A winter World Cup might not be to everybody’s – or anybody’s, for that matter – taste but one positive side-effect is the early return of top-tier action across the UK and the rest of Europe.
The English Football League is the first to return with the Championship’s curtain-raiser scheduled for Friday, 29th July and it is swiftly followed by the rest of the EFL and the Scottish Premiership, while Europe’s top leagues start to return the following weekend.
