Adelaide United vs Western United Predictions
- Adelaide United have lost three of their last five games but are unbeaten in three at home.
- Western United have also lost three of their last five but picked up three points last weekend.
- Adelaide United games average 3.5 goals per game with The Reds scoring 33 and conceding 34 this season.
- Western United have scored 29 times this season, conceding 27 and their games have averaged 2.9 goals per game.
Adelaide need to get back on the right track
Adelaide United have struggled in recent weeks, losing three of their last five games, only managing to pick up six points from a possible 15. This has put their place in the finals series under threat with the teams below them, including this weekends opponents, picking up points and closing the gap as the season draws to a close.
Adelaide have certainly provided entertainment this season, scoring the second highest amount of goals in the league but also conceded more than everyone else bar the bottom two. This has resulted in their games seeing an average of 3.5 goals each with 16 of their 19 games this season beating the 2.5 goal line.
A debut season for Western United could end in triumph
Western United have entered their inaugural A-League season and performed well, winning seven of their 19 games and sitting just two points outside the top six. The side were on a poor run of form but picked up a vital win last weekend, trouncing Central Coast 6-2 and finding their first win in five games.
Western United have scored 29 goals this season at a rate of 1.52 goals per game in what has been a successful season in the final third. Defensively they’ve not been at their best at times though, conceding an average of 1.42 goals per game with the side conceding two or more goals on eight occasions.
A win vital for both sides this weekend
Both of these teams could do with a win this weekend as they try and claim their place in the top six, and finals series, this season. The recent form of both Adelaide and Western United hasn’t been great with just three wins in 10 games between them. There have been 37 goals in those 10 games however and we’re backing this weekend to see plenty of goals too with the 3.5 goal line being beaten.
This should be a really open game without much to pick from between the two sides and this should lead to plenty of goals between two of the most attacking sides in the league. We’re predicting that there will be nothing to choose from between the teams this weekend and we think this game finishes 2-2.
