Aek Athens vs Brighton Predictions
- Both teams have scored in eight of Brighton’s last ten matches
- The Seagulls have failed to score in just one of their last 23 away games
- AEK Athens have taken just one point from their last five Europa League home matches
Seagulls are flying high
Brighton are enjoying another excellent season in the Premier League and they are well placed to extend their first European campaign past Christmas.
There will be plenty of motivation for them to get three points in their penultimate group game against AEK Athens on Thursday as a win would set them up nicely for a clash with Marseille that could decide who wins the group and who has to face a Champions League dropout in the playoff round.
Brighton lost at home to the Greek outfit but have kicked on since with a point in France and two wins over an admittedly out-of-sorts Ajax.
And, as Manchester City have been the only team to have beaten Roberto de Zerbi’s outfit in their last nine matches, confidence should not be an issue.
Greeks have been floundering
AEK got their campaign off to a great start with a 3-2 win over the Seagulls on the south coast, but they have not been able to build on that.
Ajax claimed a point from their trip to Greece, while Marseille posted a 2-0 win and Brighton look well placed to ensure AEK have only the possibility of falling into the Europa Conference League.
Both teams tend to score in Brighton’s matches, but they can come out on top so correct-score punters are steered towards a 2-1 away win.
