Morrison’s men could wilt in the heat

Alashkert were given a rough ride by Cymru Premier champions Connah’s Quay in the Champions League qualifying round first-leg last week.

The visitors played the better football on a tricky pitch, but left with only a 2-2 draw after the Nomads grabbed a late leveller.

Although the four-time Armenian champions looked a cut above technically, the Nomads were able to disrupt them with their tempo and found that Alashkert’s goalkeeper struggled when they got big bodies around him in the box.

Andy Morrison’s side will be hard pressed to repeat those tactics in alien conditions where temperatures are expected to be in the 30s at game-time.

Alashkert’s possession should take its toll and see them run out winners on Wednesday, but backers may need to be patient as they are not a prolific side at home.

Aleksandr Grigoryan’s side have scored exactly one goal in each of their last five games at Stadion Nairi, so it wouldn’t be our choice to take Alashkert to score multiple times here.

A simple 1-0 victory, which has been the scoreline in their three most recent home wins, should suffice and for our main selection we are taking Alashkert to win to nil.
