Andorra vs Moldova Predictions

This is hardly a game that is going to get neutrals tuning in but for Andorra and Moldova it is a chance to get a very rare international win. It will be played on neutral territory in Malta and Andorra are the underdogs but they are no stranger to that tag. They have lost all of their last 18 internationals since a 1-1 draw against this week’s opposition Moldova in a 2013 friendly. You have to go back to 2005 for the last time Andorra avoided defeat in a competitive match but they did push Wales very close in qualifying for Euro 2016 and were it not for the brilliance of Gareth Bale would surely have got at least a point.

Moldova’s recent record is pretty miserable too though. They’ve not won a match in the last 22 months since friendly wins over Andorra and Saudi Arabia in the spring of 2014. Their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign saw them finish bottom of their group with just 2 points behind Liechtenstein who they were beaten at home by. On a more positive note defensively they were fairly solid and didn’t concede more than 2 goals in any of their matches although it is at the other end where they really struggled.

Since June 2014, Moldova have scored just 7 goals in 17 internationals and haven’t netted more than once in any of those games. Andorra are a limited side and always set their stall out to try and defend so this could be a fairly uneventful match. Moldova have a bit more quality and drew 0-0 against Malta last week so should be a bit sharper compared to Andorra who haven’t played since November when they lost 1-0 to St Kitts and Nevis. Therefore consider backing Moldova to win 1-0 at 11/2.
