High-scoring affair fancied

Newly-promoted St Pauli lost 2-0 in their first game back in the Bundesliga and they face an intriguing clash in their second game as they visit Union Berlin.

The home team stayed up narrowly last term, avoiding the relegation play-off on goal difference.

They opened their new campaign with a 1-1 draw against Mainz but this game could be a more high-scoring affair.

St Pauli lost manager Fabian Hurzeler to Brighton over the summer but they have picked up Alexander Blessin, who impressed in spells at Oostende and Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.

The 51-year-old lifted the Belgian Cup with the latter and was named Belgian Manager of the Year in 2020-21 so has a strong pedigree and his team should improve upon their opening game defeat.

St Pauli have managed to retain much of the squad that saw them achieve promotion although they could have been busier in the transfer market.

Nevertheless, they should put up a better performance against Union and this may be an entertaining affair.
