Argentina vs Saudi Arabia Predictions
- Argentina are unbeaten in 35 games, stretching back to 2019 (they play once more on November 16 before the World Cup).
- Argentina have six clean sheets in their last seven games.
- Saudi Arabia have failed to score in all three of their games against South American teams in 2022.
Argentina can make an early statement
Argentina are one of the favourites to go all the way in Qatar and the South American heavyweights open their account with what looks a straightforward assignment against Saudi Arabia in Group C.
The Saudis did manage a win at the last World Cup in Russia as they stunned Egypt 2-1, but it wasn’t enough as they were eliminated in the group stages.
Argentina went out in the last 16 in Russia in 2018 but the fact this event is taking place outside of Europe and is almost certainly Lionel Messi’s last chance to win the top prize in international football has led to a growing belief this could be their year.
Three points and a clean sheet for La Albiceleste
Argentina head to Qatar in excellent form as they are on an incredible 35-game unbeaten run stretching back to 2019.
La Albiceleste have won their last four games without conceding and have only conceded one goal in their last seven games. Saudi Arabia have faced lesser South American opponents three times in 2022 and have failed to score in all of those fixtures, so a win to nil for Argentina looks an excellent option for our main bet.
Argentina in free scoring form
Argentina have scored 14 goals across their last four games and should be able to win with some room to spare in their opener. Lionel Scaloni’s men will see this assignment as a chance to lay down an early marker and the handicap markets also offer some appeal, while a 4-0 win for the two-time champions is the correct score bet.
A goal for Messi will always look a good option when Argentina play but this team is littered with attacking quality and they could have a few forwards who get on the scoresheet against the Saudis. Manchester City’s Julián Álvarez was on target against Jamaica in September and if he is handed some game time in this clash he may well get off the mark with an anytime effort.
