Argentinos Juniors vs CA Aldosivi Predictions
Sunday’s Superliga Argentina action features a crunch clash between Argentinos Juniors and Aldosivi. Both teams will be desperate for the points as they look to keep their respective heads above relegation water.
After an impressive 12th placed finish upon their return to the top flight last season, it didn’t look as though Argentinos would be sucked into danger on the average points table but their terrible performances so far this campaign see them sliding down it at an alarming rate.
Currently second bottom of the Superliga with just 9 points from 13 matches, El Bicho have already sacked two managers so far this season and Sunday’s match will represent caretaker boss Raul Sanzotti’s penultimate game in charge. Nonetheless, having recorded a crucial 1-0 win at Banfield last weekend, confidence has been somewhat restored to the Argentinos’ camp and those taking to the field will by vying for their third win of the season.
Meanwhile, just 1 win from the last 6 matches also has newly promoted Aldosivi sweating. Los Tiburones made a flying start to the campaign, winning 4 of their opening 6 matches but have since looked far more inconsistent. Whilst they’re clear of danger for now, further poor results will see them drop very quickly, given the volatile nature of their average points figure.
Gustavo Alvarez’s troops managed to rescue a point in the last minute at home to San Lorenzo last week, which showed the fighting spirit within their ranks but less than convincing on the road, their prospects don’t look the brightest coming into Sunday’s game. Indeed, Aldosivi haven’t scored in their last 4 away games, losing 3 times in the process and having lost 4 of their 7 away league matches overall, greater resolve needs to be found whilst playing on enemy territory.
Ultimately, both sides only have eyes on staying in the division but both need to find improvement if they are to do so. This fixture in itself could prove to be a huge one come the end of the campaign and neither party will be underestimating the importance of it in the build up.
Whilst on paper calling a winner looks a tough ask, we fancy Argentinos to use their home advantage to secure victory and are backing them to do exactly that. Their win last weekend at Banfield could well inspire them to break a run of 5 straight home defeats and having previously won 7 from 10 in front of the home crowd prior to the aforementioned sequence, we fancy them to dispatch of a less than convincing travelling Aldosivi outfit via a 1-0 margin.
