Aston Villa vs Bayern Munich Predictions

  • Bayern Munich have score 21 goals in their last four matches
  • Seven of Aston Villa’s eight games this season have featured at least three goals
  • Bayern Munich have kept four clean sheets in their last 14 matches

Bayern looking to recover from poor season

A home match against Bayern Munich is just the sort of clash Aston Villa fans dreamed about when they gained a place in the Champions League, but this looks a tough test against a team with much to prove after last year’s disappointing campaign.

Villa have had a strong start to the season, losing only to Arsenal and being held to a 2-2 draw at Ipswich on Sunday when a win would have taken them joint top with Liverpool.

Bayern, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with champions Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, but they have been in rampant form, scoring nine goals in their last European game against Dinamo Zagreb.

Three of Harry Kane’s four goals that night came from the penalty spot, but they look to have exorcised some of last season’s ghosts under new boss Vincent Kompany, scoring five at Werder Bremen and six at Holstein Kiel in their last two away games.

Villa possess attacking threat

Villa’s strengths are also in attack and not only with the impressive Ollie Watkins leading the line as Jhon Duran has been a great impact player this season and Morgan Rogers has emerged as a potential star, scoring the opener at Portman Road.

This clash looks set to be a lot tougher than they 3-0 win over Young Boys in Switzerland, but Bayern have kept just four clean sheets in their last 14 games, so the Germans winning with both teams scoring is the preferred option, with a 2-1 victory of potential interest to those looking for a correct-score bet.

Olise has settled well in Munich

Kompany has a galaxy of attacking talent at his disposal, led by Kane, who is understandably odds-on to find the Villa Park net.

However, Michael Olise could make his mark after netting twice against both Zagreb and Werder Bremen and the former Crystal Palace midfielder has had 11 efforts on goal in his last four games, so he can add to his tally of five goals in his last four games.
