Fulham +2

Reason for tip

This is a trickier game than it perhaps looks for Liverpool, who have not covered a -1 handicap in any of their last four home games against Fulham. The Reds have not covered a -1 handicap in three of their last six home Premier League matches, so backing Fulham +2 makes sense. The Cottagers have not been beaten by more than a goal in any of their seven away league games this term.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Liverpool could be going off the boil after seemingly peaking in the week they beat Real Madrid and Manchester City. They dropped points at Newcastle last week and were unconvincing at Girona. Fulham have avoided defeat in five of their seven away league games and can claim a 2-2 draw. Liverpool have scored exactly two goals in six of their last seven home games while Fulham have hit two in two of their last four aways.

Harry Wilson To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Harry Wilson scored in that seven-goal Anfield thriller last season and will relish another chance to impress against his boyhood club. The Welsh winger has scored three goals in his last six Premier League appearances, despite only starting one of them.

Liverpool unlikely to secure a landslide victory

Liverpool look likely to be given a tough time on Saturday by an in-form Fulham side that have lost only one of their last seven games and gave the Reds a couple of Anfield scares a year ago.

Arne Slot’s team got back to winning ways on Tuesday with a 1-0 Champions League success in Girona that maintained their perfect record in the League phase. But it was not a wholly convincing display and, in the wake of their 3-3 draw at Newcastle a week earlier, Slot was critical of the performance.

The Reds made a solid case to be regarded as the best club side in the world when they beat Real Madrid and Manchester City in back-to-back home games last month, but they may be going through a minor dip in form right now that a team like Fulham can exploit.

Silva’s side gave Klopp’s team plenty of problems

The Cottagers deserved their 1-1 draw with Arsenal last weekend as Marco Silva pulled off another tactical masterclass against Mikel Arteta’s side. Fulham took four points off the Gunners last season and they were never out of their four tussles with Liverpool in that campaign either.

Two late goals saw Jurgen Klopp’s men grab a 4-3 Anfield win in December before they edged Fulham out of the Carabao Cup semi-final with a 2-1 first-leg win followed by a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool’s most emphatic win over the Londoners came late in the campaign when they secured a 3-1 scoreline, despite the expected goals of the two sides being separated by a whisker.

Wilson may be a value goalscorer pick

This clash is likely to be a close battle too with Liverpool still fancied to come out on top because of their superior talent at the top end of the pitch. However, Alexis Mac Allister’s suspension may disrupt some of their build-up and control while Fulham are not short of a few likely goalscorers too with Raul Jimenez now looking back to his best and Alex Iowbi a threat when let off the leash.

Harry Wilson, who scored in that seven-goal Anfield thriller last season, is another one to consider as he faces his boyhood club. The Welsh winger has scored three goals in his last six Premier League appearances, despite only starting one of them.

But the main recommendation for this clash has to be a handicap bet on Fulham. Silva’s side have not lost an away game by more than a goal all season, winning two and drawing three of their seven top-flight road trips.  They can avoid defeat by more than a goal against a Reds team that has recorded only one league win of more than two goals at home this season and failed to cover a -1 handicap in three of their last six at Anfield.
