Aston Villa vs Manchester City Predictions
Could Aston Villa have a chance of salvaging their season? Remi Garde is certainly giving it a good go. The sure fire relegation candidates’ first win since the opening day of the season seems to have breathed life in to the players.
They come into this match on the back of a five match unbeaten streak in all competitions, with wins against Crystal Palace and Wycombe Wanderers adding to a draws against Wycombe, Leicester, and West Brom.
Aston Villa are still in serious trouble in the Premier League though, with the ten points separating them from safety leaving them propping up the table with 15 games left to play.
Manchester City, as a polar opposite to their opposition, are still in with a quiet shout of pulling off an unprecedented quadruple.
Their 3-1 win over Everton in the Capital One Cup Semi Final 2nd leg on Wednesday has taken them to the first final of the season. They are also in 2nd position in the Premier League and through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
This 3-1 win against Everton made it five games unbeaten for Man City, with three wins and two draws making for a rather unspectacular but still solid run of form.
Manchester City were actually held to a goalless draw at Villa Park earlier in the season, but before that they had won five of their previous six meetings.
Man City have also started improving their frustrating away record and have won two, drawn one, and lost one of their last four away days.
I think Aston Villa will be much more focused on their Premier League relegation battle, and as such I’m expecting Manchester City to get the win on Saturday. Odds of 8/11 for this outcome look pretty attractive to me, so that’s what I’m backing alongside a 2-0 correct score prediction at 7/1.
