Atletico Madrid and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Atletico Madrid have beaten Cadiz with both teams scoring in four of the last five meetings. The home side have kept only six clean sheets in their last 21 La Liga matches at Estadio Civitas Metropolitano, although they have won the last 11. Cadiz have a small squad, which puts them at a disadvantage against the big guns when they place twice in a week. They lost their last three midweek La Liga games, including a 5-1 defeat at Estadio Civitas Metropolitano last May.

Atletico Madrid 3-1

Reason for tip

Atleti are without suspended trio Alvaro Morata, Memphis Depay and Angel Correa, which could reduce their goal production slightly, but since March they have won ten straight games at Civitas Metropolitano with 31 goals scored, an average of just over three per game. But Diego Simeone’s have kept only six clean sheets in their last 21 league outings at home while Cadiz have struck at least once in each of their last five against Atleti.

Atletico Madrid vs Cadiz Predictions

  • Atletico Madrid have beaten Cadiz with both teams scoring in four of the last five meetings
  • Cadiz have lost their last three midweek La Liga games, including a 5-1 defeat at Estadio Civitas Metropolitano last May
  • Atletico Madrid have kept only six clean sheets in their last 21 home La Liga matches, although they have won the last 11

Suspension-hit Atleti still have enough

Despite losing three attackers to suspension, Atletico Madrid still have the personnel to ensure victory over mid-table Cadiz on Sunday.

Alvaro Morata, Memphis Depay and Angel Correa will be unavailable after some yellow card peril in Thursday’s win over Osasuna, but this is probably a better game for them to sit out than either of the next two against Real Sociedad or Celta Vigo.

Cadiz have a small squad and were much less competitive when they had to play twice in a week last season. They have lost their last three midweek league games, including a 5-1 thrashing to the Colchoneros last May.

Simeone’s men rediscovered their attacking mojo

Diego Simeone’s side were simply not clicking for the first half of last season and scored multiple goals in only four of their first 11 home La Liga games. However, something changed in March and since then Atleti have won ten straight games at Civitas Metropolitano with 31 goals scored.

That record, plus the fact that Atleti have kept only six clean sheets in their last 21 league outings at home, suggests a Madrid win with both teams getting on the scoresheet could be the outcome.

Cadiz have failed to score in two of their three away trips this season — and the majority of their road games in 2022-23 — but they have struck in each of their last five against Atleti.
