Augsburg vs Werder Bremen Betting Tips

Augsburg’s impressive Europa League qualification campaign last season doesn’t seem to have carried over into the new campaign.

They could only manage one win from their opening ten Bundesliga and Europa League matches, with seven of these games ending in defeat for the struggling Germans.

But their first Europa League points against AZ Alkmaar a few weeks ago seems to have built their confidence back up a bit and they are starting to put a bit of good form together.

Augsburg have only lost one of their last five games in all competitions, with only a 5-1 defeat to the rampant Borussia Dortmund marring their record.

They have won three of these five games, including another Europa League victory over AZ and a rare Bundesliga point.

They are still at the bottom of the German top flight though, with their six points seeing them lie four points adrift of safety.

Werder Bremen aren’t in the best shape either, with their ten points seeing them occupy the relegation playoff position in 16^th.

They won two of their opening four Bundesliga games, but a five match losing streak in the league saw them fall down the table at a rapid rate.

They got out of this losing streak with a 3-1 win over Mainz before progressing in the DFP Pokal against Cologne.

Their last match was a 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund though, so they will be hoping that this loss doesn’t damage their confidence too much and send them into a downward spiral again.

Augsburg’s impressive 4-1 win over AZ in midweek will have lifted the home crowd enormously after their poor start to the campaign. This should spur them on to get another win on Sunday, and the odds of 6/5 on offer are very attractive as well, so that’s what I’m backing.
