Belgium vs Croatia Predictions

  • Belgium have won 18 of their 22 matches in the last two years and are ranked number one by Fifa.
  • Croatia have lost four of their last six away games.
  • Croatia have conceded a total of 15 goals in their last six games on the road.

Croatia struggling to function without super Mario

Belgium slipped up in midweek when they were unable to see off Greece in Brussels in an uncharacteristically soporific display.

The Red Devils recorded only two shots on target in the entire 90 minutes and were undine by a second-half set-piece for Greece’s deserved equaliser.

Their only chance to put things right before the Euros comes against a Croatia side that look a shadow of the team that made it to the final of the last major tournament.

Zlatko Dalic has struggled to replace the strength and guile of Mario Mandzukic in his line-up, although while he still has Luka Modric there is at least hope.

Mandzukic’s retirement has exposed a serious lack of potency in attack with all but one of Croatia’s goals in their past five matches have been scored by midfielders.

A 1-1 home draw against Armenia on Tuesday was a case in point as both Josip Brekalo and Andrej Kramaric floundered against a team ranked 90th in the world.

Belgium should have plenty in the tank after their midweek slumber and we’ll take them to run out comfortable winners against a Croatia side trending downwards with only four wins in their last 12 games.

Roberto Martinez’s side have been trustworthy enough on home soil to take on the double result front as Belgium have led at half-time in four of their last five games, going on to win three.
