Birmingham can end St Andrew’s goal drought

Derby County have enjoyed a better start to the season than most expected and they may be able to provide Birmingham City with a test when the two sides meet at St Andrew’s on Friday night.

The Rams have found wins hard to come by but they’ve also proven to be tough to beat.  Wayne Rooney’s men have one win, three draws and a loss from five games so far and are four points clear of the bottom three.

Birmingham are yet to win, or score, at home in the Championship this season with one point to show from two games.  The Blues did win at Derby last season but have struggled against the Rams at home in recent years and haven’t managed to beat them at St Andrew’s since 2013, a run stretching eight games (D3, L5).

The Blues may have struggled for goals at home but they have faced some tricky opponents and I’m backing both teams to score in this match-up.  Birmingham have scored six goals in their last two league games, putting five past Luton before a 1-1 draw at Barnsley, while Derby have scored in all three of their away games in all competitions.

The Rams may have enjoyed some good results at St Andrew’s in recent years but this is a difficult period for the club and Birmingham should be able to pick up a first home win in the league here, with a 2-1 win for the hosts my correct score prediction.
