Birmingham vs Millwall Predictions
- Both teams have not scored in eight of Birmingham’s last ten home Championship games.
- Both teams have not scored in three of Millwall’s four Championship games this season and six of their last ten on the road.
- Five of Millwall’s last ten away league games have finished 1-0 with the Lions victorious on three occasions.
Sturdy defences on show at St Andrew’s
Two of the Championship’s most defensively-secure clubs lock horns at St Andrew’s on Saturday when third-placed Birmingham hist mid-table Millwall.
The Blues are on a three-game winning streak in the league after seeing off Leeds, Bristol City and Plymouth in the space of a fortnight, but John Eustace’s much-changed side did lose in the Carabao Cup to Cardiff on Tuesday.
That result should not dampen the feeling of optimism around the club following the summer takeover and Eustace was able to take some positives out of the midweek defeat as several squad men gained valuable match minutes.
Lions are fresher for the contest
Millwall should make for tough opponents, however, as Gary Rowett takes the Lions back to one of his former clubs. The Londoners have won two and drawn two of their league games this term and had a free week after exiting in the previous round of the cup.
Aside from the 3-1 defeat to Norwich, Millwall have been very solid in defence and will not give much away at all on Saturday.
Likewise, Birmingham’s backline is very well drilled and they achieved two clean sheets in the head-to-head meetings last term.
One goal could decide this contest, as it has done in five of Millwall’s last ten away league games, and the fact that the visitors have had a free week to prepare could make all the difference.
