Both Teams To Score - No

Reason for tip

Both teams scored in only one of the last seven H2H encounters and each of Watford’s last eight Championship wins also came with a clean sheet, the Hornet’s swarming defence could hold out for a BTTS – NO to land in this Championship clash.

Watford 2-0

Reason for tip

Each of Watford’s last seven victories in this fixture came without reply, but they are yet to score at least twice in a game this season. With Joao Pedro leading the line, this could be the game for Watford to achieve that feat.

Birmingham vs Watford Predictions

  • Both sides saw both teams score in just one of their opening three league games
  • Watford recorded clean sheets in ten of their last 12 Championship victories
  • Birmingham failed to score in seven of their last eight encounters with Watford

The Hornets can leave Birmingham blue

It has been a relatively solid start to the league season for Birmingham, with a four-point return looking good considering their main aim this term is survival (W1, D1, L1). However, they will be put to the test here as they welcome the almost perfect Watford to St Andrews, a side gunning for automatic promotion.

Blues boss John Eustace and Watford manager Rob Edwards were appointed within days of each other over the summer, but it is visiting manager Edwards who seems to be getting the better out of his charges. Watford scored only once in each game so far, but a rock-solid backline has helped them pick up seven of nine available points.

Meetings between the pair often follow a similar trend, with Watford winning seven of the last eight encounters, and both teams scored in only one of them! They face the added challenge of stopping their club legend Troy Deeney this time around, yet the Blues striker’s best days are arguably behind him, such is the difference in class.

A bridge too far for Birmingham

Even without the already departed Emmanuel Dennis and the apparently departing Ismaila Sarr, Watford should have enough to hold Birmingham at bay while scoring a couple of goals themselves.

We’re backing BTTS – NO in this encounter, with a smaller stake selection going the way of a 2-0 Watford win.
