Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Burnley have conceded just five goals in 13 away games in the league and Blackburn concede on average under a goal per-game at Ewood Park. Defences could come out on top in the East Lancashire Derby and under 2.5 goals looks a strong play.

Draw 0-0

Reason for tip

Burnley’s last two games have ended goalless and they have managed three straight clean sheets. The spoils were shared in the reverse fixture and Blackburn have two shut-outs in their last four at home so as bore draw has a chance.

Blackburn Rovers vs Burnley Predictions

  • Burnley have only conceded five goals in 13 away games in the Championship.
  • Blackburn have two clean sheets in their last four at home.
  • Under 2.5 goals has landed in five of the last six head-to-head meetings.

East Lancashire Derby could be on for the purists

Blackburn entertain local rivals Burnley in one of three early kick offs in the Championship on Saturday and goalmouth action could be in short supply.

The Clarets have the best away record in the division and their success has been build on a rock solid defence as they have shipped just five goals in 13 away games.

Blackburn’s home form has been key to their own promotion push and they are conceding under a goal a game at home (10 conceded in 12 games).

There is an intense rivalry between these two Lancashire clubs but this could be a game where defences are largely on top as both have struggled going forward at times. Burnley’s last two games have finished goalless, while Blackburn have scored just three goals across their last four games.

This is the kind of fixture that could be decided by one goal and at a push I’d side with the visitors to nick it as they are on a 12-game unbeaten run. However, as Burnley’s last two games have ended goalless I’m opting for yet another bore draw for the Clarets as Blackburn come into the game after managing an impressive point at league leaders Leeds in their last fixture.
