Blackburn Rovers vs Crewe Predictions
It has been a miserable start to the season for Blackburn. Having lost their first 3 league games, conceding 9 goals in the process ,they looked finally set for a win at Ewood on Saturday but conceded a late goal to draw 2-2 with newly promoted Burton. The League Cup will provide some relief and the players may enjoy playing with a bit less pressure on them. They were pretty comfortable 3-1 winners at Mansfield in the last round and are up against League Two opposition again here.
Crewe are likely to provide them with a stiffer test though and they have made an unbeaten start to the new campaign, although they do come into this game on the back of 3 successive draws. They won away from home against a team from a higher league in the last round though as they beat Sheffield United thanks to two Ryan Lowe goals. 20 year old forward Alex Kiwomya is also having a good season with 3 goals and the visitors have enough in their ranks to keep what has been a shaky Blackburn defence on its toes.
Rovers could really do with a solid win and a clean sheet to start building some confidence to take into their league games. However, including pre-season, Blackburn have gone 9 matches without a clean sheet and Crewe aren’t the sort of team that will just put men behind the ball and try to frustrate, so you have to fancy the visitors to score at some point in this game. Both teams have scored in 4 of Blackburn’s 5 games this season so it hasn’t all been one way traffic and they have enough attacking quality to cause their League Two opponents plenty of problems here.
Given that backing Both Teams to Score at 19/20 looks to offer value in this one.
