Blackburn Rovers vs Preston Predictions
There is local pride at stake here but little more than that. Both sides are heading for mid-table finishes it would seem with Preston in 10th and Blackburn 14th as it stands. It has been a mixed run of form for Blackburn. Their last 10 games have ended in 5 wins and 5 defeats but that return if 15 points has done enough to guide them clear of any realistic relegation danger. 4 of those wins have come at Ewood Park although they were beaten 2-1 at home by Leeds in their last home game. Despite that Paul Lambert will be relatively content that it seems his side are making some progress.
Preston fans will be delighted with how their team has gone this season. They won 4 games in a row in February to briefly harbour play-off ambitions but just 5 points from their last 5 games has put pay to that. They’ve taken 4 points from their last 2 games with a 2-1 win in another all-Lancashire affair at Bolton and a 1-1 home draw with QPR so they did go into the international break in reasonably healthy shape.
Blackburn are pretty clear favourites here but there is little to choose between the sides in truth although Preston have been the more impressive this season. Only 1 team has drawn more games than Preston and Blackburn are only 1 draw behind in those stakes. Simon Grayson has his team well organised and Preston are a tough side to beat and this has the feel of a end of season mid-table battle where it is hard to pick a winner. All of Preston’s 14 draws this season have finished either 1-1 or 0-0 and there don’t tend to be many goals when they play. Therefore consider backing this to finish in a 1-1 draw at 11/2.
