Blackpool should be backed to get a home win over AFC Wimbledon on Saturday when Steve Bruce’s side take on Johnnie Jackson’s team at Bloomfield Road.

The league table shows AFC Wimbledon with a clear advantage. The Dons are sixth in League One, having won six of their ten games this season, while Blackpool are 21st with just two wins. That is a gap of 15 places and ten points.

However, the Tangerines have lost just one of their last six home games in League One and have shown they are a goal threat, averaging 1.67 goals a game in their three League One games against teams in the top six this season. The hosts have also scored an average of 1.29 goals a game in their seven matches against top-half sides.

The visitors, on the other hand, have shown little sign of improvement at the back, with AFC Wimbledon failing to keep a clean sheet in 18 of their last 20 games at this third-tier level. They have conceded on all five of their away days this season.

It has been eight League One meetings since the last time a game between this pair produced three goals or more, and two of AFC Wimbledon’s four defeats this season have been by a 1-0 scoreline. Blackpool to win 1-0 at home looks a decent correct-score option.
