Bolivar vs Deportivo Cali Betting Tips & Predictions

Bolivar will have been hoping their underdog status would have helped them get a result in their Copa Libertadores opener against Racing Club, but they were sorely mistaken. They were thrashed 4-1 by the Argentinian side to make it three defeats, three wins, and two draws in their first eight competitive matches this season.

Deportivo Cali lost all of their opening three matches this season, being comprehensively beaten in the Colombian Super Cup and losing their league opener. However, since then they have picked themselves up and won three and drawn three of their last six matches in all competitions.

This included a fairly impressive draw at home to Argentinian champions Boca Juniors, but now they face a different challenge all together. Bolivar have a lower quality of players than Boca Juniors, but the Bolivian capital La Paz is notoriously difficult to take a result away from due to it’s energy sapping high altitude.

This shows in their results: Bolivar haven’t lost any of their last ten home matches in the Copa Libertadores and have won eight of these. This includes wins against big teams such as Sao Paulo, Santos, and San Lorenzo, so Deportivo Cali will be really worried about their chances.

To make matters worse, the visitors haven’t won any of their last five matches and have lost three times. In the Copa Libertadores they have lost each of their last nine away days and haven’t won since a 3-2 win against Colo Colo back in 2004.

This makes odds of 4/6 for a Bolivar win on Friday morning look very good value to me, and I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at 6/1.
