Bologna vs Atalanta Predictions
- Bologna have failed to win their last five Serie A home games – all draws – including both games this season
- Atalanta’s performances have been better than their results suggest
- Ademola Lookman has scored four goals in his last five Serie A appearances
Champions League clubs clash in Bologna
Two very evenly-matched teams will take to the field when Bologna host Atalanta in Serie A this weekend and it would be no great surprise to see the clash at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara finish all square.
But the visitors may just be able to clinch victory if they can maintain the level of performance they have produced this season, which has not been rewarded in the results column.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side had better xG numbers than all three of the teams that have so far beaten them, including Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri won 4-0 at San Siro with an XG of 1.3 to Atalanta’s 1.4 last month and that theme repeated itself in midweek when they were half a goal better off than Como according to the analytics, yet lost 3-2.
Lookman and Retegui can fire visitors to victory
Ademola Lookman has been thriving in attack for the Bergamo-based club and he could make the difference in this clash with Bologna, who are also juggling the demands of the Champions League with the need to stay in the hunt for a top-five finish again.
Vincenzo Italiano’s men edged a 2-1 victory over Monza last weekend after playing out a series of draws. They lack the goal power up front to score Atalanta, who also have in-form striker Mateo Retegui in their ranks.
Back Atalanta to take the spoils here with the in-build safety net of your stake returned in the case of a draw by taking the visitors ‘Draw no Bet.
