Empoli’s historic win at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend could propel them to another positive away performance against an out-of-sorts Bologna at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

Azzurri Empolesi earned their first away win over Roma in fine style, grabbing a two-goal advantage and holding off a late charge from the Giallorossi.

Roberto D’Aversa’s side were the better side in the first half, hitting the post and crossbar before taking the lead, and although their opponents also struck the woodwork twice as they searched for a leveller, the result was deserved.

Calafiori-sized hole in Bologna’s backline

Bologna were beaten 3-0 by Napoli last Sunday and their defence looked out of synch from the first minute of the match when they opened up to allow Giacomo Raspadori to shoot.

There is a big Riccardo Calafiori-sized hole in the middle of it after the Italian international’s switch to Arsenal and no one seems capable of filling his shoes at the moment.
