Bologna vs Sassuolo Predictions
An away trip to Lazio was never going to be an easy start to Serie A life for Bologna and it seemed like they were down 2-0 before anybody knew too much about it. Still, there were some encouraging signs from their season opener as well. They forced their way back into the game with a goal and arguably had the better of the chances in the second half.
Mattia Destro is expected to make his first start against Sassuolo after playing only 15 minutes against Lazio. The highly-touted striker is a significant part of Bologna’s survival hopes and home games against a mid-table side like Sassuolo are just the sort of occasion where cutting edge in front of goal could make a significant impact.
Sassuolo’s first ever Serie A victory came over Bologna in October 2013. They’re now entering a third straight season in the top flight and there were signs on the opening weekend that the club had adapted fairly well. Marek Hamsik scored early for Napoli, but Sassuolo came back with a pair of tallies.
On the negative front, they did lose Domenico Beradi to injury in that game, he’s expected to miss several weeks and is a significant loss. Nicola Sansone will probably make the majority of starts in his place, he didn’t do a bad job against Napoli scoring the winning goal.

For all the plaudits that Sassuolo deserve from their opener, something was wrong with Napoli. They didn’t look like the perennial Champions League side that we’ve come to expect and there was something missing. Sassuolo played with terrific energy, but they did perhaps capitalise slightly upon an opportunity.
3. Beradi’s injury
It’s not just his goals, it’s the energy and opportunities that he creates with his attacking presence. Sassuolo will miss him and be less potent without him, giving Bologna an opportunity,
