      Bordeaux vs Zenit Predictions

The first match between these teams a few weeks ago finished 2-1 to Zenit but will it be a different story this time in France?

Bordeaux went into their last match against Zenit in poor form and they are in a similar situation this time round. Bordeaux have only won one of their last six matches in what has been a pretty barren run for the Girondins.

After a pretty solid opening to the season, they now sit 11th in the league and are low on confidence but it has been a tough string of games for them. Nice, Lyon, Zenit and Montpellier were always going to be tough games so it’s not really a surprise that they lost three of these matches. Each of these games were pretty tight in the end and Bordeaux should take this as a motivator for this upcoming match.

They drew against Lyon at the weekend which as a massive result which could give them the necessary confidence to do the job against the Russians, but Zenit have been in very good form and could run riot.

Zenit currently sit atop the Russian Premier League; seven points clear of 2nd-placed Lokomotiv Moscow in what has been a successful beginning to this campaign. They are also unbeaten in the Europa League with two wins and a draw so far. Zenit were fantastic in their win over Bordeaux two weeks ago and will be confident of a similar result here especially with Alexsandr Erokhin and Artem Dzyuba on fire in front of goal.

They had a slight scare at the weekend against 10th placed Akhmat but still managed to scrape through 1-0 with a slightly weakened team. Claudio Marchisio scored the winning penalty after half an hour, but it was a very tetchy match with only one corner between both teams. Akhmat really took the game to Zenit but the league leaders held strong and showed their quality with a clean sheet despite so much pressure.

This match should be tight with Bordeaux desperate for a win and fresh off the back of a pretty solid result against Lyon, but we think the Russians should swing this one. Zenit have actually lost three of their last four away, but Bordeaux have only won one of their last seven games, so Zenit should hold the upper hand here, especially considering how well they have been doing in the league. Bordeaux managed to get a goal away in Russia a few weeks ago so we think they will get one at home as well as they have scored in seven of their last eight at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique. Bordeaux will be desperate for a result here but the Russians should be too good for them and we’re backing a 2-1 win for Zenit.
