Bournemouth vs Liverpool Predictions

Bournemouth made it three defeats in their last four games last weekend when they unsurprisingly lost 3-1 at the in form Arsenal. This followed on from an impressive win at home to Stoke, but prior to that they had lost against both Middlesbrough and Sunderland in the Premier League.

They remain in a rather respectable 12th position in the Premier League, with just five points between them and the top six and four between them and the relegation zone.

At home they haven’t done too badly so far, winning against West Brom, Everton, and thrashing Hull. However, their last home clash was a 2-1 defeat to bottom of the table Sunderland, so there are still some serious question marks over their ability.

Liverpool have no such question marks. They are one of the form teams in the Premier League right now and find themselves competing at the top of the Premier League. They also made it to yet another League Cup semi-final in midweek as they comfortably beat Leeds.

One potential problem is an ankle injury to Phillipe Coutinho that will keep him out until January, but with Sadio Mane, James Milner, Roberto Firmino, and Adam Lallana having 19 league goals between them they certainly aren’t short of talent in midfield.

James Milner is one of the main set piece takers for Liverpool, who have notched five penalties so far this season. Considering all their possession football in the final third and the trickery in the box they are always a likely team to win a penalty, so backing number one penalty taker James Milner to score anytime at 10/3 looks an excellent option for our goalscorer predictions.

Liverpool’s midweek win over Leeds made it 12 wins and three draws since their last defeat, and away from home they have won five of their last seven. Their three failures to win this season have come against an extremely organised Burnley side and Spurs and Southampton. Bournemouth aren’t close to the quality of Southampton or Spurs and haven’t shown the same organisational qualities as Burnley, so a Liverpool win looks a likelihood. Odds of 3/4 for this outcome look very good value to me, so I’m backing that along with a 3-1 correct score predictions at 14/1.
