Massa Bruta and Tricolor may miss attacking stars

RB Bragantino got their season off to a flier last weekend against Chapecoense, returning to Sao Paulo with a 3-0 win on the road.

But it will be tougher to follow up that impressive victory against Bahia because they will be without their star midfielder Claudinho – on duty with the Brazil Olympic squad.

His star is certainly on the rise with reports emerging of a 15m euros bid from Zenit St Petersburg.

Without him, Massa Bruta struggled in a 2-0 midweek cup loss at Fluminense with coach Mauricio Barbieri blaming the result on his absence and some individual errors.

Opponents Bahia thumped Santos 3-0 on their own patch last week but their prospects of a repeat have been hit by the news that ten-goal top scorer Gilberto is struggling.

Gilberto is a doubt for Sunday’s game, according to Tricolor coach Dado Cavalcanti, because of intense physical wear and tear.

That is not the main reason we are steering clear of the away side here though because Bahia’s away Serie A form is decidedly dodgy.

RB Bragantino have won eight of their last 11 home contests in the league and would have been our choice to take the points here, but for Claudinho’s absence.

Instead we’ll plump for the Both teams to score No option in the knowledge that it has landed regularly in the past even then there has been more attacking talent available.

Three of the hosts’ last eight home wins have been by the 2-0 scoreline that we are forecasting as a correct score play.
