Brazil -1

Brazil vs Ghana Predictions

  • Brazil have won their last five matches, four of them by more than one goal.
  • Ghana have only won one of their 11 matches in 2022, against Madagascar.
  • Brazil have scored 18 goals in their last five games.

World Cup favourites ramp up preparations

It has now been over two decades since Brazil last won the World Cup, but the latest incarnation of the Selecao are well-fancied to put together a serious bid in Qatar this year. This month’s friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia – both taking in France – represent Tite’s final opportunity to fine-tune his side ahead of the tournament, and Brazil approach Friday’s clash with the Black Stars as strong favourites after a fine run of form.

Since losing the Copa America final to Argentina in July 2021, Tite’s men have gone unbeaten in 13 games, winning 10 and scoring 30 goals. Brazil have also won their last five games, beating a -1 handicap four times, and have scored four or more goals against each of Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia and South Korea in that sequence. Brazil’s attacking depth is such that Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has been left at home for this month’s contests, and they look set for another fruitful outing on Friday.

Ghana, meanwhile, are in dire form after posting just one win in 11 matches in 2022, against Madagascar – currently ranked 105th in the world. The likes of Qatar, Japan, Comoros and Algeria have each scored multiple goals against Otto Addo’s defence this year, and Ghana have not won on foreign soil since beating Zimbabwe last October.

Brazil set to beat handicap

Tite is certain to use the full depth of his squad across these two friendly games, but Brazil’s depth is such that they should still have too much for Ghana. Staging this match in Le Havre, meanwhile, means the Selecao’s European-based stars will avoid the fatigue of a typical international break.

Backing Brazil to beat a -1 handicap in a routine outing looks prudent, while a 3-0 victory for Tite’s team could represent a good correct score prediction – the Selecao have won each of the teams’ last three meetings to nil.
