Brighton vs QPR Predictions
Brighton have made an outstanding start to the season and have put themselves in a strong position to put last season’s heartbreak behind them and clinch automatic promotion this time around. With home advantage against a poor QPR side, it’s hard to look past 3 points for the hosts here.
The Seagulls seem like the only side in the division capable of putting these long unbeaten runs together. They are 16 without defeat in the Championship and significantly 12 of those matches have ended in victory. They boast the best home record in the division with 2.36 points per game and a 73% win ratio at the Amex. They also have one of the league’s most prolific marksmen in Glenn Murray. He has netted 8 goals in 8 games coming into this and has netted 40% of Brighton’s goals this season. Given that, backing Murray to score anytime at 6/5 looks like a really good bet here in a game Brighton should control.
QPR come into this match having lost all of their last 5 games. Given Ian Holloway is only 6 games into the job, it has been a fairly disastrous start to life back at Loftus Road for him. A trip to Brighton, where QPR were hammered last season, is the last thing his side needs right now. Their problems are at both ends of the pitch in truth. They’ve scored only 0.91 goals per game in the Championship this season and only Wigan have scored fewer goals than them. However, they’ve also kept only one clean sheet in 18 matches coming into this game.
With Brighton boasting the division’s best defensive record, it’s hard to see the R’s creating much here. The Seagulls average 2 goals per game at home and have won 64% of their home games this season to nil so this should be a fairly comfortable outing for them and backing Brighton -1.0 Asian Handicap at 21/20 looks like a solid bet.
