Bulgaria vs Belarus Predictions

Bulgaria have made a a habit of participating in high scoring games recently, starting with a 7-2 defeat to Japan in the summers’ Kirin Cup and progressing through to their last match against Sweden.

They have lost four of these five games, winning the remaining one and seeing a total of 28 goals scored. Seven of those goals have been scored by Bulgaria, with the remaining 21 being netted by the opposition.

This includes a 4-3 win over Luxembourg in their first World Cup qualifier, which will give the visiting Belarus side a great deal of confidence about their ability to find the back of the net.

Belarus managed to get a win last time out when they beat Greece 1-0, but unfortunately for them this was only a friendly. Their competitive games have seen them draw with France and Luxembourg and lose 4-1 at Netherlands to leave them second from bottom in the group.

It’s not all bad for Belarus though. They have shown some promise this year with victories over Republic of Ireland and Norway, and their goalless draw with France was a very impressive result. They have also managed to find the net in five of their last six games, which won’t come as good news to the leaky Bulgarian back line.

Both of these sides have some players capable of scoring as well. Young Belarus midfielder Pavel Savitski has netted three goals in his five game international career and looks in good form at the moment, and odds of 10/3 for him to score anytime against Bulgaria look incredibly good value.

On the Bulgarian side of things Ivelin Popov is the one to watch. His 11 goals make him the top scorer in the Bulgarian squad and odds of 21/10 for him to score look decent value.

Considering Bulgaria’s recent form in both attacking and defending departments I’m not expecting any clean sheets to be on offer here. Backing Both Teams to Score at 11/10 looks a very good option, and I’m going for a 2-1 win for the hosts at 17/2 as well.
