Burnley vs Hull City Predictions
Both clubs are looking to seal an immediate return to the Premier League having been relegated last season and both clubs are making a pretty good crack of trying to get there. With Middlesbrough, Derby and Brighton having all suffered a few setbacks over the past month or so, the Tigers and the Clarets have remained strong and gained ground on their rivals.
Hull have racked up 6 wins out of 6 so far in 2016 to go top of the table and progress to the FA Cup 5th Round. They were also 3-0 winners when these sides met on Humberside on Boxing Day. Those are two reasons why the bookies make the visitors favourites to win this but they may have been a bit hasty to jump to that conclusion.
This will be by some distance Hull’s toughest match of 2016 so far. They’ve won 6 of their 14 away league games this season but none of those were against sides in the top 8. This will be considerably more difficult than the last meeting with Burnley given how much the Clarets have improved since then.
Burnley are unbeaten in 6 league matches since going down at Hull, taking 14 points from those matches and scoring 17 goals. They’ve scored 4 goals in 3 of their last 4 at home and picked up a solid point in a tough game at Sheffield Wednesday in midweek with top scorer Andre Gray finding the net.
They’ve also added defender James Tarkowski from Brentford since then and at 2.050 look really good value with a 0.0 Asian Handicap.
All of a sudden Hull look like the side to beat in this league and that can bring its own pressure as Brighton and Middlesbrough have already found out. Burnley have been really impressive of late and might be worth a punt at 12/1 to win this 2-0.
