Serbia to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals
Reasoning
Cameroon vs Serbia Predictions
- Cameroon have lost each of their last seven World Cup group stage matches
- Cameroon’s last ten international matches have all gone under 2.5 match goals
- Serbia have lost two of their last 19 competitive international matches
- Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored six times in Serbia’s last six competitive matches
Must-win for these Group G rivals
Cameroon and Serbia both lost their opening group games, with Monday’s game between the two taking on added significance in race to qualify from Group H. Brazil are long odds-on to win the group with Switzerland, Cameroon and Serbia all set to battle it out for second place.
Serbia can edge low-scoring affair
Serbia have enjoyed plenty of success in the past two years since missing out on a place at the 2020 European Championship. Serbia have lost two of their last 19 competitive international matches, they topped their World Cup qualifying group and won their Nations League Group in the summer. Serbia’s squad is littered with players who play in some of the top leagues across Europe and Dragan Stojkovic’s side should be able to bounce back from their defeat in match day one, when they play a Cameroon side, who, following their defeat to Switzerland, have now lost their last seven World Cup group stage matches.
Goals may be in short supply in Al Wakrah
Under 2.5 match goals was a winning selection in both Cameroon and Serbia’s Group H openers and with Monday’s game set to be a cagey affair with plenty on the line, goals may be in short supply at Al Janoub Stadium. Cameroon’s last ten international matches have all gone under 2.5 match goals and they posed little threat to Switzerland in their first game of the tournament.
Serbia didn’t muster a single shot on target against Brazil and only managed four shots on goal in the entire game. They face a big drop in grade against Cameroon and Serbia should be able to carve out a few clear-cut chances for their main man Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Mitrovic could prove the difference
Serbia weren’t able to create many chances for their talisman, Aleksander Mitrovic, in their opening game against Brazil, with the game all but over, the Fulham striker was ultimately given a rest and taken off ten minutes before the end. Mitrovic has been in red-hot form for both club and country for some time now. The Fulham striker has scored six goals in Serbia’s last six competitive fixtures and could hold the key to securing a much-needed win over Cameroon.
Serbia to win and under 2.5 match goals will be the main selection for Monday’s Group H clash, with a 2-0 win for the European side forming the correct score prediction. Punters can round off a three-pronged attack on Monday’s game, by backing Aleksandar Mitrovic to score anytime.
