Tip Reasoning

  • Cardiff have won five of their last nine home Championship games.
  • Luton have failed to win five of their last nine away league games (four defeats, one draw).
  • Cardiff have won the last four head to head meetings between the clubs.

Bluebirds can benefit from Luton’s sapping win over Forest

Cardiff have a great record against Luton and offer value in the match betting to beat a Hatters team whose determination to win cannot be questioned. The Bluebirds will be desperate to put things right after their loss at Hull when they gifted the hosts an opener and struggled to come together in an attacking sense.

Of course, Steve Morison’s side have next to nothing to play for in the remainder of this season while Luton are in the thick of the playoff fight. Nathan Jones has his side revved up all right – as anyone who caught their Good Friday win over Nottingham Forest witnessed.

The Hatters left everything on the pitch and a bit extra too as they collected eight cautions on the way, which resulted in them playing out the last 20 minutes with ten men.

Hatters’ best football has come under the lights

A game like that can take it’s toll and we wonder if Luton can sustain that sort of intensity again if it’s needed. Instead of backing the visitors, whose form prior to Friday was looking a touch iffy, we’ll side with the team who have won five of their last nine at home.

Morison changed defensive personnel and shape at Hull in what appears to have been a failed experiment, but the desire not to lose back-to-back games will surely mean he reverts to the tried and tested on Monday.

The Bluebirds have been pretty consistent at home since the end of January bar one absolute shocker in the South Wales derby when they played the occasion and not the game, so we’ll take them to come through this by two goals to one. Luton have reserved their best football away from home for midweek matches under the lights and managed just one shot on target on their last road trip to Huddersfield.
