St Mirren to Win

Reason for tip

There has been a high turnover of players at the Falkirk Stadium this summer and manager John McGlynn is being linked with the Scotland job. The Bairns will need more McGlynn magic this season, but the opening game of the campaign may come too soon for Falkirk.

Falkirk vs St Mirren Predictions

St Mirren can make a winning start

Falkirk enjoyed a fantastic top-six finish on their return to the Scottish Premiership last season, but already it looks like manager John McGlynn will have to pull off more heroics this term.

The Bairns have lost a whole host of key performers in the summer, with excellent young forward Barney Stewart moving to West Brom and Dylan Tait and Calvin Miller also departing.

Loan signing Ben Broggio has returned to his parent club, and while there have been a number of new arrivals at the Falkirk Stadium, McGlynn admits his side are short at the top end of the pitch.

The Bairns failed to progress from a Scottish League Cup group containing Ayr, Edinburgh, Alloa and Stranraer, and McGlynn appears right in his assessment, that Falkirk are still a work in progress going into the opening Premiership contest.

St Mirren won the Scottish League Cup last term, but only narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship and Craig McLeish has been tasked with guiding the club in the right direction.

The former Buddies academy coach has strengthened his squad in the summer and it’s now a data-led approach in Paisley.

At the prices, St Mirren rate a play to get the season off to a winning start.
