Celtic and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

It is hard to see Inverness denying Celtic a treble or forcing this game into extra time, but Caley Jags can at least get on the scoresheet. The Championship side should be up for this cup final and can play with little pressure as huge underdogs – and they have scored in each of their last 14 games. Celtic have conceded 11 goals in their last nine games so back the Bhoys to win and concede.

Celtic 4-1

Reason for tip

Inverness can get on the scoresheet but Celtic have more than enough firepower to win convincingly on the day. Celtic have hit nine goals across their last three games and can record a 4-1 victory at Hampden.

Billy McKay To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Inverness forward Billy McKay looks a good outside option as a scorer bet as his side’s most likely goal outlet. The 34-year-old has five goals in as many appearances in the cup and can make it six in six by finding the back of the net on Saturday.

Celtic vs Inverness CT Predictions

  • Celtic are looking to wrap up a domestic treble.
  • Celtic ended a three-game winless streak with a 5-0 thrashing of Aberdeen in the final round of Premiership games.
  • Inverness have scored in 14 successive games.

Celtic bidding for treble glory

Scottish champions Celtic head to Hampden on Saturday to take on Championship side Inverness in the Scottish FA Cup final.

Caley Jags are huge underdogs and it would be a seismic shock if they were to deny league and League Cup champions Celtic a domestic treble, but they may provide more of a test than the odds suggest.

Caley Thistle could be good for a goal

The Bhoys are the overwhelming favourites in the standard match betting markets and even the handicap markets don’t appear to offer any great deal of value.

Inverness may have finished in mid-table in the Championship but they were only three points off second place n in what was an incredibly close league. Billy Dodds’ men managed 52 goals in their 36 games and have scored in 14 successive games, so they may well be able to strike against a Celtic defence that has found clean sheets hard to come by recently.

The Parkhead have conceded in six of their last nine games, shipping 11 goals in total, and recent history also suggests Inverness can get on the scoresheet. Celtic played in four consecutive finals in this competition between 2017 and 2020, they claimed the cup on each occasion but managed just one shut-out in those showpieces, and this Caley Thistle side should be up for this final so they can at the very least get on the scoresheet.

McKay the goal contender for Inverness

There are plenty of Celtic players who look like potential scorers and the 10/11 on Hyeon-gyu Oh should be of interest as he has three goals in his last two games.

However, as we’re expecting a goal for Caley Jags there is more value to be found in picking out one of their players as a possible anytime scorer and veteran forward Billy McKay stands out.

McKay, 34, has 13 goals in 34 games this season in the league and has particularly enjoyed this cup run with five strikes in as many games. McKay scored twice in the previous round against Falkirk, and looks Inverness’ most likely goal outlet.

Ultimately, Celtic’s quality should tell over the 90 minutes though and they can record a convincing 4-1 victory. Inverness will look to take the game to the Premiership side and they can play virtually without pressure as massive underdogs, but Celtic have scored nine goals across their last three games and have the firepower to record a convincing win.
