Chapecoense vs Figueirense Predictions
This is a massive game for the visitors who are 5 points from safety with only 5 to play. They need wins if they are to drag themselves out of this but they haven’t won in 6 matches which has seen them slide helplessly towards Serie B.
There are reasons to believe that there is still hope for them though. They’ve picked up the odd result this season which has come completely out of the blue, such as when they won 1-0 at a Santos side that boast a formidable home record. They held a re-vitalised Gremio to a 0-0 draw last time out too, so that is something to build from and they aren’t terrible at the back conceding only 1.27 goals per game on average this season in the league, which isn’t bad given their position.
Their problems have mostly been at the other end but Chapecoense are a side that does present opposing teams with opportunities to score. They’ve kept clean sheets in only 21% of their matches this season and have let in 1.58 goals per game on average, which is the 2nd worst record in the division. They are also clearly at the point in their season where priorities clearly lie elsewhere. They are competing in the Semi-Finals of the Copa Sudamericana and drew their 1st Leg 1-1 in Argentina against San Lorenzo in midweek.
They will have a few tired legs after that game and with not much left to play for in the league they may be very tempted to rest players here. Their league form has suffered as a result of their run in that competition in any case, with just 1 win in their last 8 matches, so there is real hope for the visitors here and backing Double Chance – Draw or Figueirense at 21/20 looks like it could offer some value.
