    Charlton vs Brentford Predictions

We’re four games into the Championship campaign and Charlton continue to sit inside the top six. The hosts had been picked among the favourites for the drop this term, but they’ve made a high scoring start in their return to the second tier. They are hoping to continue their great form under Lee Bowyer this weekend, but can they edge out a Brentford side who had been tipped to go up? The visitors are suffering from their own problems at the moment, which could contribute to their downfall here.

Charlton are impressing even without picking up outstanding results. They may have not won in their last three matches, but their draws with Nottingham Forest and at Barnsley have been positive results for the Addicks. They may have gone out of the Carabao Cup, but that isn’t likely to concern Bowyer too much. Now the club need to find some stability in the second tier, starting by solidifying their home form and producing results in clashes with sides who have issues on the road.

Brentford come into this clash following a 1-0 loss at Leeds United, yet another game which has seen the Bees struggle in attack. It’s hardly surprising given that their top scorer departed in the summer, but for such an attack-minded side a return of three goals in five matches is really poor. They lost 11 of their 23 away trips last term and their defeat at Leeds suggests more problems on the road for Frank and his men.

Brentford won only three of their away trips last term, while they meet a Charlton side who haven’t lost a league game at the Valley since October. The hosts have started by scoring eight times in their first four matches of the season, while they are protecting a record of four wins and a draw from their last six encounters with the Bees. We see the hosts as the firm favourites to claim the points, leaving a bit of value here given that the bookies are underestimating the newly-promoted side.

While Brentford have built up a reputation as a free-flowing side, Thomas Frank hasn’t quite kept that up of late. Their last seven games have seen under 2.5 goals scored in six of them. That has us edging towards a tighter game than Charlton have seen at the Valley in the Championship this term. We’re siding with the hosts given the respective form of both teams. Charlton to win on the Draw No Bet market seems well priced as far as we are concerned, while we are tipping the Addicks to win this one 1-0.
