Chemnitzer vs Union Berlin Predictions
- None of the last 15 sides to face Chemnitzer could stop them from scoring.
- Chemnitzer failed to win each of their last eight DFB Pokal matches.
- Each of Union’s last three cup games produced at least three match goals.
Another mismatch in the DFB Pokal
The fourth-tier hosts have got it all to do in order to progress in the DFB Pokal as they welcome a solid top-flight side in Union Berlin. These sides shared a division in the fourth tier 17 years ago, though it is the visitors who have reinvented themselves into one of the strongest sides in the country since then.
Chemnitzer are enjoying a 15-match run of competitive games in which they scored at least once, this is clearly against much lesser opposition than what they will face today but with essentially nothing to lose, we’re willing to take a risk on their chances of breaching Union’s backline at least once.
Taking a different approach
There is simply no value to be had backing Union to win at 1/7, although that clearly looks to be the likely outcome. Instead, we’re going for both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in the game.
Union Berlin have this last game before the league campaign begins and as such, we may see some final experimental tactics in this encounter as the Iron Ones prepare for a battle on three fronts, the DFB Pokal, Bundesliga and the Europa League.
Union have already conceded in three pre-season games against lower-tier German opponents, so we’re sticking with the visitors to get the job done by a commanding 4-1 scoreline.
