Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Derby have made a slow start to the season thanks to back-to-back 2-1 defeats, but the Rams managed to find the net in 22 of their 23 home matches last term. Cardiff followed a 3-2 win over Swindon with a 1-1 draw against Wrexham, and more goals should be on the cards here.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Derby failed to win nine of their first 10 matches last season, but that included three 1-1 draws across their first five home matches. The Rams need to bounce back after a couple of disappointing weekends, while Cardiff drew 1-1 in their opener.

Derby vs Cardiff Predictions

  • Derby have lost 2-1 in both of their matches so far this season
  • The Rams scored in 22 of their 23 home games last term
  • Cardiff failed to score in only two League One away games on their way to promotion
  • The Bluebirds have scored and conceded in their first two matches

Rams can seal first point

Derby followed a 2-1 loss to Lincoln in the Carabao Cup first round with a defeat at Charlton in their Championship opener last weekend. They host a Cardiff side that claimed a late draw with Wrexham in their return to the second tier.

The Bluebirds beat Swindon 3-2 in the cup to start their campaign, while they had an eye-catching 4-1 victory over Serie A side Roma in preseason.

Cardiff won promotion from League One with an attractive brand of football under Brian Barry-Murphy, scoring in 21 of their 23 away trips last season.

Derby only failed to score once at home last season, and they’ve seen chances at both ends early in this campaign. With back-to-back 2-1 defeats behind them, the Rams should concede chances against this Cardiff side.

However, questions remain around how well Barry-Murphy’s side will adjust to the Championship defensively. The Bluebirds will hope they’re catching Derby at the right time, given that the Rams won only once across their first 10 league games last term.

With the hosts looking a little undercooked, back both teams to score and a 1-1 draw.
