      Cologne vs Ingolstadt Predictions

Cologne’s 2-0 loss on Tuesday night saw them fall to their second defeat of the Bundesliga season, but they arguably deserved a point from the match. It was a lack of concentration at the end of each half that allowed Vedad Ibisevic to net a brace, but they more than held their own against the home side.

This makes it two losses in Cologne’s last three matches, with a 1-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach being sandwhiched by their loss at Hertha Berlin and a much more humiliating 6-2 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Their seven point haul in the opening three matches plus their win against Monchengladbach leaves them in 7th place with ten points from their opening six games.

Ingolstadt hold the same amount of points, and sit just below the hosts due to the lesser amount of goals they have scored.

It’s quite the disparity between the teams’ goals tally. Ingolstadt have only managed to score three times in their opening six games, whilst Cologne have netted nine.

But this highlights the difference between their tactical approached, with Ingolstadt opting for a defensive stance in their newly promoted state, whilst Cologne are trying to play attractive, attacking football.

It’s yielded the same results though. Ingolstadt have also lost twice, drawn once, and won three times in their opening matches, with losses against Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg being the only matches they have conceded a goal in.

This is an excellent start to the campaign after their successful promotion winning season last term, and their defensive soundness is a very good feat for a team just coming into the top flight.

Ingolstadt haven’t played in a match where both teams have scored all season, with their three wins all being by 1 goal to nil and their draw coming in scoreless. Cologne have also only seen one side net in both of their last two games.

This theme continues when you look at historical results. Only one of the five matches between these sides has seen both teams hit the back of the net, so a Both Teams to Score: No bet is looking increasingly profitable.

Excellent odds of 4/5 for this make it an even more attractive bet, so that’s what I’m backing along with a 1-0 Cologne win at 11/2. If you’re feeling a little riskier, a Cologne to Win to Nil bet comes in at excellent value odds of 15/8.
