Corinthians vs Internacional Predictions
Sunday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees Corinthians doing battle with Internacional in Sao Paulo. An open and exciting game is expected to be in order as both sides fight for the points on offer.
It’s fair to say Saturday’s game is a big one for Corinthians. They’ve dropped like a stone in recent months with some poor performances and results and now only have a small window to ensure they are a part of next year’s Copa Libertadores. Indeed, with just 6 games left to play, Timao are outside of the Libertadores spots on goal difference but a win on Saturday would seem them leapfrog the visitors into them.
As poor as they’ve been recently, early signs under caretaker boss Dyego Coehlo look bright. He’s come in well since Fabio Carille departed, picking up a 3-2 home win over Fortaleza and a solid point away at rivals Palmeiras, meaning that Corinthians do come into this weekend’s action with a degree of confidence behind them.
Meanwhile, having won just 3 of their last 12 league games, Internacional’s form is far from strong either and they’re also at risk of missing out on the Libertadores, particularly if they lose this game. Odair Hellmann lead the side for most of said run but current boss Ze Ricardo is also struggling to get any real consistency out of the team.
Huge pressure had been building on the side following defeats at Ceara and arch rivals Gremio but Colorado at least managed to secure a much needed victory last time out, seeing off Fluminense 2-1. On paper, Inter certainly have everything needed to compete with Corinthians on Sunday but it really does depend on which side decides to turn up, with their performance levels extremely erratic.
Ultimately, this is a very big game as regards the race for a Libertadores place and it’s one both sides will be aiming to win. As such, we can expect an open game full of chances, with both teams set to bring an aggressive and attacking game plan to the pitch.
As such, we really like the look of backing the Both Teams to Score line and feel it provides excellent value at current prices. 4 of the last 5 games between the two have seen goals at both ends and with 6 of Corinthians’ last 7 games and 3 of Inter’s last 5 matches having done the same, that trend could well continue, with a 2-2 draw on the cards.
