Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Tottenham have conceded the opening goal in their last 10 games in all competitions, while they’ve gone seven matches without a clean sheet in the league. Crystal Palace have shipped 21 goals in 16 matches this term and they’ve scored in 75% of their home league games.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Tottenham haven’t won any of their last 10 away Premier League games against fellow London sides, while they have fallen two goals behind in four of their last five away league matches. The visitors are struggling for wins of late, so back them to share a draw with Palace.

Harry Kane To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Kane has scored in three of his last four games for club and country, while he has struck five goals across his last six meetings with Palace. The England captain has scored six times in eight league trips this season, so back him to strike this week.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

  • Kane has scored six goals in eight away games and has five goals in his last six against Palace

Tricky times for Conte

As usual after a year in the job, the honeymoon is over for Antonio Conte at Tottenham. While he was a massive get for the club off the back of their sacking of Nuno, the demanding Italian was always going to cause problems by butting heads with Daniel Levy and the board. With a bad run behind them, that time has come.

Conte is clearly feeling the pressure at Spurs, where he faces tough competition just to get them back into the Champions League. While Newcastle sail ahead in third under Eddie Howe, Conte says his side will finish fourth at best, while the Italian suggested sixth or seventh is more likely. That’s not exactly a vote of confidence, which amps the pressure up on their players ahead of Wednesday’s trip across London.

Mixed year for Palace

Former Arsenal captain Patrick Viera is likely to enjoy the state Spurs are in as they arrive to Selhurst Park. The Crystal Palace boss impressed last term, but things have been a bit more mixed this time around with the Eagles 11th in the table. Recent losses to Nottingham Forest and Fulham were a worry, but Palace are still on for safety, with another unspectacular finish likely.

The problem for the Eagles so far has been their defence, which has shipped 21 goals across 16 matches this term. The hosts head into this game having conceded in six of their last seven, which is a concern given that Tottenham are among the leading scorers in the division.

Viera is aiming to make Palace a bit more threatening going forward and his team have scored in 75% of their games at Selhurst Park this term. There’s reason to believe they can trouble Tottenham, as the visitors are in terrible shape defensively. Spurs have conceded the opening goal in each of their last 10 matches in all competitions, while they’ve gone seven league games without a clean sheet.

Kane to cause problems

While Tottenham look too open at the back, there’s little reason to doubt their attack here. Harry Kane heads into this one in form, he has been involved in eight goals in his last six Premier League appearances against Crystal Palace, scoring five. Kane has six goals in eight away league games and he’s scored in three of his last four for club and country.

Both teams to score is my selection for this encounter, while these two could end up sharing the points on Wednesday. Tottenham haven’t won any of their last 10 away Premier League games against fellow London sides (D4 L6), so back the Eagles to pile onto Spurs’ misery in this clash. A 2-2 draw is my correct score prediction given the visitors’ defensive woes.
