Darmstadt vs Mainz Betting Tips

Darmstadt couldn’t have hoped for a much better start to their Bundesliga season when they were promoted from the second tier last season.

They opened their season with a DFP Pokal win and a trio of draws in the Bundesliga. Draws against the likes of Hannover, Schalke, and Hoffenheim are respectable in themselves, but they followed this up with a 1-0 win away to Bayer Leverkusen.

A match against Bayern Munich saw them incur their first loss of the season, but since then they have beaten Werder Bremen 2-1 and halted Borussia Dortmund’s perfect start to the season with a 2-2 draw on Sunday.

This leaves them in a very respectable 9^th position in the league, and a win on Friday could take them as high as 4^th in the table.

Mainz aren’t too far behind the home team, having collected nine points from their opening seven Bundesliga games, just one fewer than Darmstadt.

But they have lost their last two Bundesliga fixtures, with defeats to Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich taking their record to three losses and two wins in their last five league matches.

Mainz haven’t managed to find the back of the net in their last two games, but star attacker Yunus Malli netted a hat trick in their 3-1 win over Hoffenheim. This took his tally to five for the season, so Darmstadt will have to be wary of him if he is on form.

Darmstadt’s last two results will have boosted their confidence enormously, especially managing to stop Borussia Dortmund’s storming start to the season on Sunday.

This could spur them on to victory on Friday, and with excellent odds of 2/1 for Mainz to suffer a third defeat in a row look like exceptional value.
