Dijon Attack Can’t Cut the Mustard

Lyon have won five of their last six Ligue 1 matches on the road (D1) and should have no trouble this Wednesday in dispatching a Dijon side who are without a victory at Stade Gaston Gerard this season (D6, L5).

After a wobble at home to Metz two weeks ago (0-1), Les Gones have responded with a 0-5 thrashing of Saint-Etienne and a 2-1 victory against Bordeaux over the past fortnight. They remain bang in contention for the title going into this week’s fixture, but nothing less than a victory will do against their second from bottom opponents.

We foresee nothing other than an away success here based on the massive difference in quality of the two sides, and the 31 point gap between them in the Ligue 1 standings.

This may not be emphatic though in terms of the score-line, as despite being winless at home, Dijon have only conceded 11 goals in their 11 outings at Stade Gaston Gerard.

However, they’ve only managed to net three goals themselves, so a Lyon win to nil looks the right wager, considering Les Gones have maintained clean sheets in three of their last six away trips.
