Bairns too strong for rivals in cup

Falkirk have been a real surprise package in the Scottish Premiership this season and they can continue their impressive campaign by beating rivals Dunfermline to reach the Scottish Cup final.

The Bairns secured a top-six finish in their first season back in the top flight and got the better of Hearts, Stenhousemuir and Dundee United en route to this Hampden semi-final.

They should have too much for a Dunfermline side who are 21 points adrift of league leaders St Johnstone in the Scottish Championship and have been poor in their last two games, losing 2-0 to Partick Thistle before a 2-2 draw with strugglers Airdrie.

They may have rotated for those games but there has not been much in the recent performances of Neil Lennon’s men to suggest that they are on the brink of a cup final.

High-scoring cup semi likely

Falkirk have also had the upper hand over their rivals as of late, going unbeaten in the last five head-to-heads and winning three of the last four meetings between the two.

John McGlynn’s side should be too strong for their second-tier counterparts and they are fancied to progress to the Scottish Cup final for the first time since 2015 with a win.

Seven of Dunfermline’s last eight games have gone over 2.5 goals and a 3-1 win for Falkirk is the correct score selection.
