Brentford 2-1

Reason for tip

The Blues rarely score more than once and are up against a Premier League who remain underrated. The Bees can come away from the Second City with a 2-1 success.

Birmingham vs Brentford Predictions

  • Five of Brentford’s last six matches have featured more than two goals
  • Birmingham have scored more than once in just four of their last 16 games
  • Brentford have lost three of their last 18 outings

Lack of goals a concern for Blues

Birmingham head into Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash unbeaten in their last eight matches, but they have been struggling to get over the line and that could cost them against Brentford, who continue to be underrated as a Premier League force.

Four of those Blues outings ended in draws, including their latest two Championship outings against Sheffield United and Bristol City, but it is a concern that they have failed to score more than once in 12 of their last 16 matches and their interest in this season’s knockout competition could end this week.

Bees should be flying after Spurs win

Brentford defied expectations to finish ninth in the top flight under Keith Andrews and he will be keen that his team do not bounce at St Andrews following Saturday’s impressive 3-0 home win over Tottenham.

That was a great start which could have been even better had Igor Thiago converted a penalty, but he was still the second highest top-flight goalscorer behind Erling Haaland and the forwards Andrews has, now including Jaidon Anthony and Callum Wilson, are a force to be reckoned with.

They had a decent run to the quarter-finals last year in which they saw their way past Bournemouth and Aston Villa, and that suggests Andrews will not be taking the fixture lightly.

There is a buzz about the Bees and they should get the job done in the Second City, with correct-score punters pointed towards a 2-1 away win.
