Brentford to Win @ 11/10

We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Brentford 3-1 @ 16/1

Reason For Birmingham vs Brentford Predictions

  • No Championship side has won more games than Brentford this season (16).
  • Brentford have scored 9 goals across their last 3 away trips.
  • Birmingham have lost all of their meetings with the top 3 so far.
  • The Bees have won 5 of their 7 trips to bottom-half sides.

Buoyant Blues

Birmingham are heading in the right direction, with another victory in midweek leading them away from the drop zone. The Blues are now 11 points above the bottom three, with survival looking likely. However, just how much further can they go? Could they build on an impressive run of form to see off Brentford this weekend?

The hosts will be hopeful of another strong result at home, but a clash with the Bees is a major test for any team right now.

Automatic Ambitions

Brentford managed to pick up a point at Leeds in midweek, with that result keeping them only two points shy of Marcelo Bielsa’s side. With Leeds in troubled waters, the Bees could pounce in the coming weeks of the season. They’ve already shown their credentials with 16 league victories this term – no side have won more.

A big part of Brentford’s renewed promotion hope has been their good form on the road. Last term they had a formidable home record, but one which wasn’t matched by a patchy return on their travels. This term it’s been a different story, as the Bees sit fifth in the away results table, having scored nine times and taken seven points across their last three trips.

Revenge on the Cards?

Brentford are pushing to make up for a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Birmingham on the opening day. The Blues won that clash with an xG of 0.01, having scored the only goal from a looped header outside the box. We don’t see them getting quite so lucky this time.

The Blues have won six home games all season, four of which have come to sides below them in the table. Near the top, Birmingham are looking less impressive. West Brom, Leeds and Fulham have all visited this ground already, with the Blues conceding nine goals and taking zero points.

The Bees have won two of the last three meetings between the pair, while their record at bottom half sides is W5 D1 L1. We expect them to follow up that form with a win in this clash, so we are going with Brentford to take the points as our tip here. We’re also backing a 3-1 away win, given that the Blues have scored in 80% of their home games.
