LASK Linz vs Celtic Predictions
- Celtic showed their cutting edge in the final third with a 3-0 first-leg win, including two Camilo Duran goals
- Seven of LASK’s last nine home European games have seen both teams score
- The Austrian side generated more xG in both halves of last week’s 3-0 defeat in Glasgow
Bhoys to ease into League Phase
Celtic have one foot in the next round of the Champions League after their 3-0 victory in Glasgow last week. The Bhoys really made the most of their chances in that victory, while LASK failed to score despite generating a higher Expected Goals figure in each half.
The Austrian side created enough in that game to suggest they can get on the scoresheet in Tuesday’s return leg. However, their poor track record at home makes a comeback seem unlikely.
LASK finished 35th out of 36 sides in the 2024/25 Conference League. They drew their home meetings with Djurgarden, Cercle Brugge, and Vikingur Reykjavik. They’ve failed to win six of their previous seven home matches in Europe, and they meet a Celtic side who have added some real quality in the final third.
Camilo Duran scored twice against LASK in the first leg, taking him to three goals in four games for Celtic. He netted five Champions League goals for Qarabag last term, and he can continue to prove himself at this level.
The Bhoys won at Feyenoord and Stuttgart under O’Neill’s watch last season, while they also drew at Bologna. LASK aren’t on par with those sides, so back a fourth consecutive win for Celtic, with a 2-1 win my correct score prediction.
