An early season European battle

Two sides with identical four-game league records (W1, D2, L1)and who are expected to be battling it out for European places come the end of the season come head-to-head as Frankfurt welcome Leipzig for the eighth time.

The Eagles are unbeaten in each of the seven home H2Hs to date, yet holding on to that 100% unbeaten record could be a big ask for the hosts with a Champions League opener waiting in the wings and the irresistible scoring form of the visitors.

Leipzig head into this on the back of a storming 8-0 victory in the DFB Pokal and while such a victory over fourth-tier opponents is not necessarily comparable with a top-flight encounter, such ruthlessness must be commended as Leipzig seek consistency in the league.
