Can Espanyol make it back-to-back victories?

Espanyol picked up their first win of the season at the fourth attempt last weekend as they beat Atletico Madrid, just their fourth league victory in 23 matches.

Diego Martínez has inherited a side who are particularly poor at home, where they are five without a win La Liga, while four of the last 10 have ended all square.

The corresponding fixture between these two last season was also a draw, 1-1 in February, with three of the last eight head-to-head meetings ending as stalemates.

Sevilla under pressure

Sevilla are yet to win from five games this season, with their latest defeat coming at the hands of Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

That means the pressure continues to grow on Julen Lopetegui, whose side’s only point from four La Liga games came in a 1-1 draw with Real Valladolid.

Both their away league fixtures this season have ended 2-1, to Almeria and Osasuna, but they finished the 2021/22 campaign by drawing seven of their last nine on the road.
